Regular Meeting

June 12, 2012

Crow Wing Town Hall                  6:00 p.m.

Board Members Present:  Chairman Mark Platta, Supervisors Greg Smith and Dave Schultz and Clerk Virginia Rogers and Treasurer Susan Goodew.

Mark called the meeting to order and the pledge to the flag was recited.

There were no gopher bounties claimed.

A recent burial at the cemetery is not in the correct location. The grave was mismarked before digging. The family of the deceased wants it moved and so we will need to make arrangements for that. As an alternative the board decided to offer the additional burial site in between to the family as this would make the sites that they own contiguous. Ginny will contact the family.

The electrical box at the park was vandalized recently. Randy has chained and padlocked the box so that it’s secure again.

Mark made a motion to appoint the following election judges for the primary and/or general elections this year: Virginia Rogers, Susan Goodew, Linda Schuety, Karen Rouna, Darlene Jillson, June Hunter, Sharon Shultz, Chuck Nelson, Susan Kern, Nick Reindl and Kathleen Lordbock. The motion was seconded by Dave and passed unanimously. Ginny was asked to follow party list and party balance election laws when setting up a schedule for the elections.

The water issues in the Oak Ridge South plat were discussed. Greg will meet with Lonnie Thompson at the DNR about the beaver dam concerns. The township attorney said that the county is in charge of the drainage ditch and the township does not have any authority over it.

Another complaint was received about the noise coming from North Central Speedway. This one stating that the races are going as late as 1:00 a.m. at times. Greg shared the information that the state will not enforce noise limits at racetracks established prior to 1996, but local units of government can do so. The topic will be discussed at the next planning commission meeting.

Susie gave the treasurer’s report and claims were approved and paid. The beginning balance for Planning & Zoning needed to be adjusted by $45 to make up for a voided check from 2011.

Dave gave the road report.  Various methods of repaving Cook Road, 50th Ave and Wetherbee Rd  were discussed. Mark made a motion to accept the bid from Anderson  Brothers in the amount of $23995.61 for the repair of Lone  Oak Road. The motion was seconded by Greg and passed unanimously.

The minutes of the May 22nd Regular Meeting were reviewed. Greg made a motion to accept the minutes as written. The motion was seconded by Dave and passed unanimously.

Correspondence was reviewed and the meeting adjourned by general consent at 9:15 p.m.
