Regular Meeting                               July 12, 2011

Crow Wing Town Hall                     6:00 p.m.

Board Members Present:  Chairman Mark Platta, Supervisors Greg Smith and Dave Schultz and Clerk Virginia Rogers and Treasurer Susan Goodew.

Mark called the meeting to order and the pledge to the flag was recited.

No gopher bounties were claimed.

A complaint about dogs roaming the neighborhood in the Natures Path development has been received. A letter will be sent to Jean Casper requesting that she keep her dogs on her own property and under her control.

Greg made a motion to send flowers to the funeral of John Mattila spending up to $35 for a live plant, due to the fact that we worked closely with John in our used oil facility and recycling program. The motion was seconded by Mark and passed unanimously.

Jim Nix was present to ask about the road signs that were vandalized in the township. Two suspects were contacted and admitted to defacing four of the five signs. Dave turned a cost estimate into the deputy who contacted us.

Susie gave the treasurer’s report including information on the 1st half property taxes received.

Claims were approved and paid.

Greg was contacted by Brian Pike to inform us that the loggers will not be pursuing the use of Cook Road and will use the alternate route instead.

Greg made a motion to approve the June 28, 2011 minutes as written with some minor corrections. The motion was seconded by Dave and passed unanimously.

Curt Engholm was present to discuss progress of the cleanup of his property. He said that if the deadline is August 31, 2011 and not earlier, he will be able to meet it. That date was verified and it was determined that the matter will be discussed again at the August 9th meeting, at which time a date for inspection will be set in order to ensure that the items that must yet  be removed are identified clearly.

Rob Anthony was present to discuss his property. The standards for fencing had been sent to him and he was informed that he will need to ensure that his fence meets those standards. He also provided a receipt from the county where he paid for his salvage license. Rob was asked if they were able to find any documentation on septic systems on the property. He said that he was not able to get any information from his father regarding them.

Dave gave the road report. He had submitted a list of signs that we would like added to the bulk sign order that the county is intending to place. The list was sent back to us with errors amounting to about double the number of signs. Dave filled out the list again and resubmitted it, but the list was sent back with the dollar amount being more than double what it should have been. He will continue working with the county to get the numbers straightened out.  Repairs on Cook Road were discussed. Greg made a motion to rescind the previous decision to approve the Anderson Brothers proposal based on the decision to repair 260 feet instead of 100 feet. The motion was seconded by Dave and passed unanimously.  Mark made a motion to accept the proposal from Dale DeRosier for the repair in the amount of $7525, with the requirement that the gravel be compacted. The motion was seconded by Greg and passed unanimously. A driveway has been put in on Black Bear Trail without an entry permit. The property belongs to Rick Buersken. He has installed a plastic culvert, which we no longer use in the township and the driveway is higher than the road. It was decided that if he obtains an entry permit and lowers the grade of his driveway so that it is not higher than the road the driveway can remain as it is otherwise.

Claims were approved and paid.

The meeting adjourned by general consent at 8:20 p.m.
