The Crow Wing Township
Board of Supervisors held its Regular Meeting on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Crow Wing Town Hall. Present were Chairman Greg Smith, Supervisors Mark Platta and Dave Schultz, Clerk Virginia Rogers and those
on the attached roster.
Greg called the
meeting to order.
No gopher feet were
presented bounty.
PLANNING & ZONING
BIG WOOD TIMBER
Mike Nicklaus was
present to represent Big Wood Timber. He indicated that he has been told that the twelve additional trees that were to be
planted are in. Greg has stopped by and verified that the piles required to be moved have been moved. He did not see twelve
new trees in place. Mike said that he will check into it and make sure they there and he will make certain that these areas
are maintained. It was determined that the property is not in violation at this point if the trees have been planted as required.
Three training sessions
had been suggested by the Planning Commission as most applicable to the township. The dates they are offered are July 7th, July 21st and August 18th. Greg made a motion to send Linda and Zack to those three sessions. The motion
was seconded by Dave and carried by unanimous vote.
BACHMAN WILDERNESS
ACRES
The roads in the
Bachman plat were discussed. Dave had met with Dale DeRosier and he bid a $2700 addition to the turnaround on Black Bear Trail
to make it large enough for the snow plow. Mark stated a concern that the road is platted beyond this area, but has not been
constructed. It was determined that if the road is accepted by the township, the description will have to be written to clearly
show that the platted right of way beyond the end of the road is not being assumed by the township. Discussion followed regarding
who will pay the costs for widening the turnaround, filling the cracks and mowing. Dave was asked to get bids for the entire
project and bring them back to the July 13th meeting.
PARK - HORSEHOE
PITS, PLAYGROUND SET
Mark made a motion
to approve the two proposals from HyTec construction for the horseshoe pits in an amount not to exceed $4780 and the installation
of the playground set and landscape boundary, in an amount not to exceed $4280. The motion was seconded by Greg and carried
by unanimous vote.
Mark made a motion
to approve the extension of the collection of property taxes on the Mills Property that was annexed into the city of Brainerd.
The dedication of property taxes from this parcel to park development on this
same property has a proposed
Extension of an
additional five years. Greg seconded the motion and it carried by unanimous vote. Mark mentioned the large piles of debris
from the timber clearing on the Mills property. It was decided that he should look further into the requirements regarding
this.
Carol Wermter had
expressed concern about addressing and had sent an email reporting several people having mentioned to her that they had fire
or ambulance calls where there was considerable difficulty in locating them. Kathy Karl at the Surveyor’s Office is
looking into this and will let us know what she finds.
It was also noted
that the County Commissioners voted to eliminate the Surveyor’s Department and cut the four staff positions there with
a two week notice. Phil Trusty had been contacted by both Greg and Ginny, but had not responded. We will contact him again
and ask him to attend a Town Board meeting so we can ask any questions that we have. It was noted that the Surveyor’s
Office has been one of the easiest departments in the county to work with.
Jim Nix was present
to report that Donny Girard on Robin Street has been burning garbage on his property. He has reported it to the Sheriff’s
Department and the DNR. He also mentioned a couple of trees down that need to be removed.
The minutes of the
June 8th and June 16th meetings were reviewed. Dave made a motion to accept the minutes as written.
The motion was second by Greg and carried by unanimous vote.
Correspondence was
reviewed and payroll was reviewed and approved.
The meeting adjourned
by general consent at 8:00 p.m.
