April 6, 2010  Meeting with Planning Commission

The Crow Wing Township Board of Supervisors held its Annual Meeting with the Planning Commission on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. at the Crow Wing Town Hall.  Present were Chairman Greg Smith, Supervisors Mark Platta and Dave Schultz, Clerk Virginia Rogers, Planning Commission Chair Brad Arnold, Commissioner Cliff Carlson and those on the attached roster.

Greg called the meeting to order.

Brad stated that Mark Smieja has decided not to seek reappointment to the Planning Commission at this time. Dick Rofidal has indicated that if a qualified applicant is interested in his seat, he will step down. Brad said that he felt that some sort of recognition should be made of Mark for his years of service and the same for Dick should he choose to resign.

Greg made a motion to appoint Linda Schuety to the open four year seat on the Planning Commission. The motion was seconded by Dave carried by unanimous vote. Dick will be contacted and informed that Zack Rogers did apply for a position on the Planning Commission and that if he does decide to step down, he should submit a written resignation to be accepted by the Town Board.

Planning and Zoning revenue and expenses were considered. Possible solutions to the negative balance were discussed. It was decided that violation complaints will start at the township level and not be turned over to CGI until necessary.

A complaint had been received about the TaLitha Blue property at 10199 Depot Street

in regard to garbage blowing into neighboring yards. Brad had driven by the property and found that there is indeed a problem with loose garbage in that yard. Other violations were discussed. It was determined that there should be an ordinance amendment to clarify what constitutes a junk violation.

Brad shared some information about the Wetland Conservation Act from a recent meeting.

The meeting adjourned by general consent at 8:55 p.m.
