Commission Members Present: Brad Arnold (Chair), Dan Lee, Linda Schuety, Paul Stephany, Justin Burslie (Planning &
Zoning Administrator), Doug Kern (Township Supervisor) and Duane Ruona (Township clerk).
Brad called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM and the pledge to the flag was recited.
Dan made a motion to continue the meeting at 11425 Greenwood Street (Bigwood Timber Property) to review the conditions
of CUP 09-3407 at 6:10 PM. Seconded by Linda, motion passed. The Planning Commission members proceeded to the property.
The Planning Commission members returned to the town hall at 7:08 pm. Paul made a motion to continue the meeting. Dan
seconded, motion passed. The tour of the Bigwood property was discussed. The fire damage has been repaired, tree plantings
done, and new policies are in place regarding the operation of the new boiler. The items of concern in the letter of June
20, 2019 about the provisions of their CUP have been addressed and the Planning Commission members agreed that no further
action is required at this time. Justin will notify Bigwoods that the CUP conditions have been met.
There were no public hearings.
There were no additions to the agenda.
Open Forum-nothing.
Linda made a motion to accept the minutes of the July 8, 2019 meeting as written. Seconded by Doug. Motion passed.
Under new business the Joel Brott property lot line adjustment and addition of accessory structures were discussed. Brad
and Justin have talked to Joel Brott about the issue. The property sellers have offered more property to Mr. Brott and the
best way to include the area, which is under two acres, in the original rezoning is to make a lot line adjustment. Mr. Brott
also wants to place small accessory structures on the property for the sale of craft items to the public. As long as he is
the owner of the items being sold, no action is required by the township.
The sale of vehicles at 6710 Wels Avenue was discussed. There were four vehicles for sale on the property several weeks
ago. Then there were no vehicles for sale until a few days ago when another vehicle was placed for sale on the property.
Justin will send a letter to the property owner referring to the state requirement that no more than five vehicles may be
sold by one person per year without a dealer's license and rezoning the property from residential to commercial would be required.
Under old business Dan stopped by the Fletcher property and 12 new trees have been planted on the berm as requested.
Correspondence from the Town Board has been added to the agenda and will be reviewed at each meeting. There has been no change
at the Chad Jillson property. County Attorney Don Ryan has indicated that he will talk to the probation officer to speak
to Chad Jillson about the cleanup. Steve Engholm has continued working on cleaning up the property. Wade Tomberlin has not
responded to messages left by Brad about the items that have been requested from him concerning the property cleanup.
Justin said there have been ten new permits issued this year. One land split, a new solar panel system, two accessory
structures, one dwelling addition, one addition to an existing accessory structure, three single family dwellings and one
rezone.
Brad asked Justin about having Sourcewell put together a proposal for an update to the township comprehensive plan. Justin
said the planners are just finishing up other projects and he will bring more information about the process to the next meeting.
Dan made a motion to adjourn, Linda seconded, meeting adjourned at 7:37 PM.
