REGULAR MEETING, TUESDAY, February 26, 2019 6:00 pm CROW WING TOWN HALL
Board Members Present: Chairman Greg Smith, Supervisor Doug Kern, and Clerk Duane Ruona
Greg called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm and the pledge to the flag was recited.
There were no gopher bounties.
Chad Knutson from Wild Rice Liquors was in attendance to discuss his liquor license. The corporation is going through
a name change for the business so he needs to apply for a new liquor license. Doug made a motion to approve the Off Sale
license for Knudson Management, Inc. dba Wild Rice Liquors. Greg seconded, motion passed.
Approval of election judges for the upcoming township election was discussed. Greg made a motion to approve the current
list of qualified, trained election judges on file with the township to act as election judges and absentee ballot judges
for elections in 2019. Doug seconded, motion passed.
Under unfinished business there was no new information on property violations.
Under road issues Gerry took care of the snowplowing complaint about the mailman not being able to get to a person's mailbox
on Forest Heights Circle.
The MAT 2019 Spring Short Course meeting at Breezy Point will take place on March 25, 2019. Greg made a motion to allow
the town board members to attend the meeting, Doug seconded, motion passed.
The Brainerd Fire Service Contract billing for 2019 and assessment for 2020 was discussed. The 2020 assessment for Crow
Wing Township is a 13.31% increase over 2019. From 2014 to 2020 the total increase has been 8% with reductions in some years.
The clerk was instructed to request that Doug be added to the mailing list of Fire Committee meetings.
Correspondence was reviewed. The clerk was instructed to fill out and send in to the U.S. Census Bureau the Report of
Building or Zoning Permits for 2018. The Crow Wing County Association of Township Officers Annual Meeting will be at 7 pm
at the Daggett Brook Town Hall on April 29, 2019. Greg made a motion to pay the total of $1,147.40 which is the dues for
the county association and Minnesota Association of Townships. Doug seconded, motion passed.
Payroll was reviewed and approved.
The Board of Canvass meeting to review the township election results was discussed. Because Greg and Sue Kern are on
the ballot, two people will need to be appointed to the Board of Canvass. The clerk will contact people who have volunteered
previously and bring the information to the next meeting for board action.
A motion was made by Doug to approve the February 12, 2019 minutes, seconded by Greg. Motion passed.
