Regular Meeting
July 10, 2012
Crow Wing Town Hall
6:00 p.m.
Board Members Present: Chairman Mark Platta, Supervisors Greg Smith and Dave Schultz and Clerk Virginia Rogers and Treasurer Susan
Goodew.
Mark called the meeting to order and the
pledge to the flag was recited. There were no gopher bounties claimed.
John Schommer and Tom Hendrickson were
present to express interest in the actuary positions at Oakland Cemetery. After
discussing the measuring project that will need to be completed, Mark made a motion to appoint both John and Tom as actuaries.
The motion was seconded by Greg and passed unanimously. A date was not able to be set to begin as Mark needed to check his
calendar and get back to everyone by email.
Marv Begin was present to introduce himself
and talk about his candidacy for County Commissioner this year. He shared his ideas about the economy and other issues. He
was thanked for doing so.
Two residents from the Lone Oak/Burr Lane
area were present about the water issues on the lots in those areas. Information from the township attorney was reviewed,
including the fact that all authority over soil and water has been given to the counties. The residents will be on the agenda
for the next TEP Panel meeting. Greg will contact Rob Hall at the County Highway Department to discuss the issue with him.
The board expressed that they would like to do what we can to help, but need to make sure that this doesn’t cause a
problem for any other properties.
Cliff and KT were present on behalf of
North Central Speedway to discuss further complaints about noise from the track. A complaint had been received about a car
or cars using the track on Sunday June 24th. Cliff and K T stated that the track was locked up on that date and
no one was given permission to use it. The complaints about Sundays were discussed and Cliff stated that they will not allow
the track to be used on Sundays anymore, with the exception of the upcoming Labor Day weekend event which will run on Sunday.
There is also an annual Memorial Day event. Those will be the only two Sundays per year from now on. He was thanked for his
willingness to work with the community on this issue.
The security light at the town hall had
been shot with a rifle until the globe fell down. It has now been repaired by Crow Wing Power.
Dave had been contacted by Frances Koering
about beaver dams near his property. It appears that these dams may be holding back water that contributed to the recent flooding
of 50th Ave. It was determined that if permission from property owners can be obtained by Tim Parker he should
go in and trap the beaver and remove the dams.
Susie gave the treasurer’s report
and claims were approved and paid.
A letter will be sent notifying Curt Engholm
and Isla Engholm that any vehicles on the property will be removed if a title is not produced and the vehicles are not licensed.
Ginny will contact the county to see if they have a list of contractors who clean up properties for the county and will bring
back information to the next meeting.
Dave gave the road report. There is still a basketball hoop sitting on Black Bear Trail. Dave was asked to put a notice on it with
a deadline for removing it since we have no way of knowing who it belongs to. Other road concerns were also discussed.
Monty Jensen stopped in to talk about his
candidacy for County Commissioner. Dave asked him to make sure that residents keep lawn signs supporting him out of the road
right of way, especially if they are not mowing around them. Monty talked about some of the issues that concern him and the
reasons that he is running for office. He was thanked for coming to speak with the board.
The minutes of the June 26th Regular Meeting
and the June 27th Reconvened Meeting were reviewed. Dave made a motion to accept the minutes as written. The motion
was seconded by Greg and passed unanimously.
Correspondence was reviewed and the meeting adjourned by general consent at 9:20 p.m.
