February 9, 2010  Regular Meeting

The Crow Wing Township Board of Supervisors held its Regular Meeting on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Crow Wing Town Hall.  Present were Chairman Greg Smith, Supervisor Mark Platta, Clerk Virginia Rogers, Treasurer Susan Goodew and those on the attached public roster.

There were no gopher bounties requested.

PLAT OF BARROWS BUSINESS PARK

Cindy Hidde was present from Landecker & Associates representing the applicant. She asked about bituminous paving of the road in the plat and asked if there was a way to keep the road private or delay paving until the lots were sold. Discussion followed. Information and maps were reviewed and Cindy was given a copy of the standard developer's agreement. There were no obvious problems noted with the preliminary plat. It appears that any changes required have already been noted for revision. Mark made a motion to approve the preliminary plat with changing to a radius of 80 feet on the cul de sac and the road base being 28 feet with a 24 foot road surface. The motion was seconded by Greg and carried by unanimous vote.

Application 09-3375

Minor Ordinance Amendments and Updating of New State Statutes

Applicant: Crow Wing Township

The language revisions were reviewed and discussed. Mark made a motion to approve the amendment. The motion was seconded by Greg and carried by unanimous vote.

Big Wood Timber

Overage expenses for the Big Wood Timber CUP were considered. Mark made a motion to send a bill for the overage in the amount of $438.19 with payment due upon receipt. There will be an onsite review on or nearly following the June 15th deadline. If all conditions are met upon review, there will be no additional charge for the June 15th onsite review. If conditions are not met, the property will be considered in violation and expenses will be charged to the property owner as they accumulate. The motion was seconded by Greg. A reminder should be included that outstanding charges on properties do constitute a violation. This invoice should be payable upon receipt. The motion carried by unanimous vote.

Greg will bring a rough draft of a planning commission job description to the next meeting. It was decided that the annual meeting with the planning commission will be held on Monday, April 5, 2010 at 6:00 p.m.

FIRE PROTECTION

Mark shared information on home owners insurance in regard to fire protection. It appears that insurance rates would increase drastically if the township switched to Little Falls for fire protection.

Greg shared some cost information on dumpsters. He is still waiting on some of the information from Waste Management. He will also check with Blue Lakes Disposal to see what their charge would be for a 6 or 8 yard dumpster.

Mark made a motion to appoint the three election judges who are interested in serving: Linda Schuety, June Hunter and Ed Damrau for the township election with Linda receiving emergency head judge training for that purpose. The motion was seconded by Greg and carried by unanimous vote.

The minutes of the January 26, 2010 Regular Meeting and the February 1, 2010 Budget Meeting were reviewed. Mark made a motion to approve the minutes as written. The motion was seconded by Greg and carried by unanimous vote.

Correspondence was reviewed and claims were approved and paid.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p.m. by general consent.
