Regular Meeting - June 7, 2016

Regular Meeting June 7, 2016; 6:00pm Crow Wing Town Hall

Board Members Present: Chairman Mark Platta, Supervisors Greg Smith & Dave Schultz, Treasurer Susan Kern, Clerk Susan Amick

Mark called the meeting to order at 6:00pm and the pledge to the flag was recited.

Mark gave a cemetery report. He received an inquiry from a funeral home about a specific lot/owner that could not be found. There may have been a mix up with the name of the cemetery that the family purchased plots in. Mark will follow up with them.

The supervisors reviewed the road contract and the insurance coverage of Brad Gorron/Northland Excavating who will now be contracted to do our year round road care/snow removal. The contract will be given to Mr. Gorron by Dave to sign.

There has been no response from Tri City regarding the letter sent out after the last town board meeting.
If we have not heard from Tri City by the next meeting on June 28, the township will have to resort to turning the matter over for legal action.

The violation on the Fuchs/Juaire property was discussed. A letter had been sent on May 5, 2016 by our attorney and was not responded to by the deadline given. Greg made a motion to go ahead with legal action against the Fuchs/Juaire property, Dave seconded it, motion passed.

Jamie Markuson appears to be removing items from his property and it is uncertain if he has discontinued living there. The board decided to give him more time to continue working.

Dave gave a report on the annual recycling meeting with Doug Morris. He gave Mr. Morris an update on our additional dumpster & work that St. Mathias is doing to encourage their residents to use the program. It was determined that the amount to be received for the program in 2017 will be $10,000.

Susan Kern gave a brief summary of the sex trafficking meeting for county/township elected officials held earlier today. Information had been shared about how law enforcement and other agencies are working in the area to deal with this issue, as well as who targeted victims typically are and what to watch for.

Susan Kern gave a treasurer report and the supervisors examined & approved the claims.

Dave gave the road report. He has begun the ditch mowing work in the township. He met with Brad Gorron of Northland Excavating to show him the roads in the township and detail specifics to be done with road care. Dave noted some new structures (garage, etc) being built in the area. It will be requested to have our planning administrator, Justin Burslie email monthly permit reports to Dave by the first of the month so he has them when he does the road inspections. Dave shared information regarding the process needing to be done to build up the shouldering on particular roads. He will continue to work with the county worker on the matter to delineate the roads.

Susan Amick reminded the board that Duane Ruona will be appointed to take her place as township clerk beginning August 1st. Township bank account signatures, township phone, mailing info, website etc will need to be changed over to Duane. Dave made a motion to approve switching all the accounts etc over in July. Greg seconded the motion, motion passed.

The summer short course trainings for town officers were discussed. Sue Kern & Duane Ruona are planning to attend.
The minutes from May 24th were reviewed. Greg made a motion to approve the minutes, Dave seconded it, motion passed.

The meeting adjourned at 7:40pm.
