Public Hearing - Petition to Vacate Jackson Street
July 28, 2009
The Crow Wing Township Board of Supervisors held
a public hearing for considering the petition to vacate Jackson Street on July 28, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. at the Crow Wing Town
Hall. Present were Chair Greg Smith, Supervisors Mark Platta and Dave Schultz,
Clerk Virginia Rogers, Jim Jackson and Zack Jackson.
Greg called the meeting to order and the pledge
to the flag was recited.
The affidavits of notice were reviewed and found
to be in order. Zack Jackson provided a history of the Jackson’s relationship with Mike Morley, which he believed to
be relevant to the petition. He also noted that the private airstrip they have on the property is recognized by the federal
government as a potential site for emergency plane landings. Discussion followed, including the fact that the road does not
access the airstrip, but leaves approximately 200 feet of private property that must be maintained in order to provide complete
access. It was also determined that the airstrip is private, except in the event of an emergency plane landing.
Zack Jackson presented seven statements that
he had prepared and taken around to petitioners to rescind their signatures on
the original petition. The board therefore declared the petition to be invalid and no action was taken.
The meeting adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
