July 7, 2009 Regular Meeting
The Crow Wing Township Board of
Supervisors held its Regular Meeting on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Crow Wing Town Hall. Present were Chairman Greg Smith, Supervisors Mark Platta and Dave Schultz, Clerk Virginia Rogers and those
on the attached public roster.
There were 133 pair of gopher feet
presented for bounty by Robert Nibbe.
Justin Barnhart was present on behalf
of the BMX Club. He explained how the track had been damaged by someone who jumped the fence right after the track had been
treated. They are looking into possible measures to reduce vandalism and are also possibly interested in going in with the
township to establish a skate park in the township park. He informed the board that they have a 501c3 number and that there
are various grants that they would be able to apply for. Discussion followed. Justin was encouraged to look it further, including
contacting the City of Crosby about how their park was funded and looking in liability issues.
Bob LaFlex was present to discuss
enforcement of the dog ordinance. Discussion followed including Bob's past experience and his expectations. It was determined
that this looks like a viable option for enforcing the ordinance once the county eliminates theirs on December 31st.
A petition to vacate Jackson Street
had been submitted. The petition was reviewed and found to be complete. Greg made a motion to set the public hearing date
for July 28, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. The motion was seconded by Mark and carried by unanimous vote.
Ginny gave the treasurers report
on Susie’s behalf and claims reviewed, approved and paid.
The minutes of the June 23, 2009
Regular Meeting were read. Greg made a motion to accept the minutes as read with a minor correction. The motion was seconded
by Mark and carried by unanimous vote.
The trip to Washington DC was discussed.
Ginny was asked to save receipts for airfare, food, taxi and registration to be considered for reimbursement by the township.
Dave gave the road report, including
an update on patching holes and problems with the truck. He also verified that all crackfilling is complete. Rob Hall is available
to meet with the board next Tuesday. It was decided that the meeting would be reconvened at that time.
Correspondence was reviewed. It
was decided that Dave will attend the Board of Equalization training on July 30th in Walker.
The meeting was recessed at 9:15
p.m. to be reconvened on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 5:15 p.m.
